Branch Adventures 2009 Extreme UP

For grades 6 thru 12 students, we headed to da UP again (that's Upper Penninsula for those who don't know). Below is the schedule we followed.

2009 Xtreme UP Schedule

This years theme is The UP Rocks! and we are planning on a rockin' good time. Per the theme, you can look forward to the rocky Porcupine mountains, an adventure in a real copper mine, and a visit to the historic Fayette mining village

Sunday, Aug. 9 7:00 AM Meet at Branch Adventures parking field. Load and Leave

Lunch at Mackinac Bridge.

Drive to Fayette State Park. Set-up Camp, eat dinner

Evening hike to overlook cliff, return for bonfire and s'mores

Monday, Aug. 10 Swimming, fishing, windsurfing lessons

Tuesday, Aug. 11 Break camp, eat fast breakfast.

3.5 hour Drive to mine tour at Adventure Mine

Lunch, then tour mine

Drive to Porcupine State Park, Presque Isle unit., set up camp, supper

Wednesday, Aug. 12 8:00 AM breakfast, swimming, fishing, windsurfing lessons, lunch, afternoon hike.

Thursday, Aug. 13 Possible tour of copper refinery, Drive to afternoon hike for Lake of the Clouds for a beautiful sunset picnic.

Friday, Aug.14 Another quiet morning. After brunch, break camp and drive to USFS campground on Lake Michigan near Brevort.

Saturday, Aug. 15 Drive back to Branch Adventures. Lunch in Gaylord (Pizza) Arrive at Branch Adventures 4:45 PM. Parents, we will call if we are running late.
